Cheryl Meyer is a small-town girl born in Timmins Ontario with big-city dreams who’s dabbled in every job both in front of and behind the camera before becoming a bona fide scribe. She loves to write about women who find their voices in messy situations. Cheryl has worked on several family dramas including Amazon’s Beyond Black Beauty and her YA series Normal Girls and Zero Repeat Forever have both received CMF development funding.

Get ready for a scare when her monster horror flick, Carved, now appearing on Disney + and Hulu. Her dramatic thriller feature, All the Lost Ones, starring Jasmine Mathews and Devon Sawa, has been acquired by Paramount+ Canada for 2024. The Last Mark, an indie crime thriller, was honored with a 2021 TIFF Industry Select and Official Selection from the Canadian Film Festival before landing a home on Super Channel. 

Cheryl’s accolades include receiving the Winter 2024 Inevitable Foundation Elevate Grant and the 2022 Scripted Cannes Screenplay Nomination. She’s honed her skills in prestigious professional development labs including the 2023 TIFF Series Accelerator Lab, 2023 Disability Belongs Entertainment Lab, and 2023 Stowe Story Writers Room Lab with Derek Simonds.

Cheryl’s thrilled to be an advocate for the community of creatives with disabilities as an early advisor for the Disability Screen Office, a community advisor for ReelAbilities Accessible Writers Lab, and a speaker on accessibility at TIFF’s 23rd Top Ten Industry Forum. She’s eager to include disability in her storytelling with her original TV pilot Chronic Elle that’s been selected for the 2024 Athena Film Festival’s Episodic Writers Lab.
