NORTHERN ONTARIO EXPO ANNOUNCES ORIGINAL HALO FAN FILM “LOST SIGNAL”
Northern Ontario Expo Productions is working on an ambitious military, science fiction, mystery and fandom style new fan film.
TIMMINS, ONTARIO — Northern Ontario Expo is proud to officially announce the upcoming production of HALO: LOST SIGNAL, an original, independently produced fan film inspired by the legendary HALO universe.
Developed and produced in Northern Ontario, LOST SIGNAL will take audiences on a cinematic military science-fiction mission centered around a mysterious transmission, an unknown source, and a discovery that could hold major implications for the fate of fandom worldwide.
The story follows Petty Officer John - Master Chief 117, joined by newly formed Noble Team members Captain Valerie "Valkyrie" Kane and Lieutenant Ethan "Echo" Walker, as they travel to Earth on a mission to investigate a mysterious signal detected on a restricted military frequency.
With the assistance of the A.I. Cortana, Master Chief, Valkyrie, and Echo must trace the transmission, locate its source, and uncover the classified information connected to the mysterious Lost Signal.
Their search will ultimately lead them to Northern Ontario Canada.
But finding the signal is only the beginning.
“The signal was never lost. It was waiting to be found.”
A NORTHERN ONTARIO EXPO FAN FILM PRODUCTION
HALO: LOST SIGNAL is being developed as an independent, non-commercial fan film production by the Northern Ontario Expo, a not for profit organization.
The project will feature cinematic storytelling, original characters, practical costumes, location filming, visual effects, holographic elements, and an original military style science-fiction soundtrack developed specifically for the film.
Filming will utilize locations throughout Northern Ontario, allowing the region's forests, landscapes, and remote environments to become an important part of the film's science-fiction setting.
The production will also introduce audiences to Valkyrie and Echo, two original characters created specifically for the Lost Signal storyline.
Valkyrie brings a disciplined, focused, and tactical presence to the newly formed Noble Team. She is the heart and soul of team and can be counted on no matter what challenges are placed in her path. Master Chief deeply respects her as she is someone whose authority comes from action, competence, and responsibility. She would never ask a soldier to take a position she wouldn't take herself.
Echo serves as the team's reconnaissance and technical specialist. While his nervous humor occasionally surfaces during missions make no mistake, he is a capable and highly focused Marine who understands that locating the source of the signal may be more complicated than anyone initially expected.
Together with Master Chief and Cortana, the characters form the heart of the Lost Signal story.
MORE THAN A FAN FILM
For the Northern Ontario Expo, the project represents another opportunity to celebrate creativity, storytelling, and the passion of fandom.
“Lost Signal is something we wanted to approach as more than simply putting characters in front of a camera,” said Jason Denis, President of Northern Ontario Expo and Director of HALO: LOST SIGNAL.
“We want to tell a story. We want the audience to become part of the mystery and follow Noble Team as they search for the source of this transmission. Every occurrence should bring them a little closer to understanding why the signal exists and what it is ultimately leading them toward.”
Denis added that the project has grown considerably from its original concept.
“What started as a small promotional idea quickly became something much bigger. We began developing the story, the characters, the visual identity, and even an original musical soundtrack. Although the Northern Ontario Expo is a small, not-for-profit organization, we are incredibly passionate about this project and the story we are working to bring to life,” said Jason Denis. “We are dedicating a tremendous amount of time, effort, creativity, and our limited resources to Lost Signal. This is truly a passion project for everyone involved, and our goal is to create something that reflects the commitment of our team and our genuine love of fandom and storytelling. We hope that everyone will enjoy and respect our efforts.”
